About

NOFRAC, the Nova Scotia Fracking Resource and Action Coalition, was formed in December 2010 to share reliable information about the risks of hydraulic fracturing and the development of shale gas in Nova Scotia, and to raise public awareness about these risks. NOFRAC was part of the broad movement that resulted in Nova Scotia banning hydraulic fracturing in shale in 2014.

NOFRAC revived in 2025 when Premier Houston introduced a bill to repeal the fracking ban. Our purpose is to again share reliable information and raise public awareness about the risks of shale gas development and fracking for Nova Scotia and to keep or restore a ban on fracking in Nova Scotia.
